About Trip Assurance

Trip Assurance is designed to help passengers discover and book last-minute alternate travel and financing options in case the train ticket remains unconfirmed before chart preparation. “If the prediction meter indicates 90% or above, then the Trip Assurance fee would be ₹1 and if below 90% then there is a nominal fee charged depending on the class of the ticket," the company said in a statement.

1. How will it work?

1.1 Opt-in for Trip Assurance (TA/Offer) while booking a waitlisted train ticket on the Trainman.

1.2 If your ticket remains fully waitlisted at the time of chart preparation, Trainman will provide you with a confirmed flight ticket/cab/3x refund subject to term and conditions.

1.3 In case your ticket gets confirmed (CNF/RAC) then Trip Assurance Fee (TA Fee) will be refunded back to you in the form of TM Cash.

1.4 Trainman reserves the right to provide either Flight, Cab or 3X refund to Users who have opted in for Trip Assurance.

2. Trip Assurance Terms and Conditions

2.1 The TA is valid on selected trains/classes booked through Trainman.

2.2 The TA will only be valid on train tickets that are in the fully waitlisted state after the chart preparation i.e., all passengers in the PNR are waitlisted

2.3 In a single PNR, the ticket will be considered as Confirmed, if:

2.3.1 Any passenger in a single PNR is Confirmed; and

2.3.2 Any passenger in a single PNR is RAC.

2.4 Users will not be eligible for the flight ticket/cab booking/3X refund if the ticket gets partially or fully confirmed at the time of chart preparation

2.5 The TA Fee will be applicable to each passenger travelling on a single PNR.

2.6 The TA Fee paid for availing of the TA may change depending upon the ticket fare or availability of the ticket.

2.7 Children aged 0-5 whose seats are not opted while booking train tickets are not eligible for Trip Assurance. However, if you require flight booking/cab booking for a child in this age group, please contact us at “7428518704” or write to us at booking@trainman.in within 24 hours of booking your train ticket.

2.8 Full TA Fee will be applicable for a child passenger (5 to 12 years age), even if their train ticket is booked as No Seat Birth (NOSB).

2.9 Trainman reserves the right to choose mode i.e., Flight or Cab or 3X refund.

2.10 Flight ticket/cab booking will only be made available for the passengers whose names are mentioned in the train ticket booking. No requests to add passengers will be entertained.

2.11 Flight/Cab bookings are made only for the boarding (departure) and landing (arrival) place specified on the train ticket. Requests to change boarding/landing locations will not be accepted. They will be processed only if the distance is too far but is subject to restrictions.

2.12 The TA Fee will be fully refunded in your TM wallet in the form of TM Cash, if the waitlisted ticket gets confirmed/partially confirmed or RAC/ partially RAC.

2.13 The TA Fee will be fully refunded in your TM wallet in the form of TM Cash, if the waitlisted ticket gets confirmed/partially confirmed or RAC/ partially RAC.

2.14 The refunded TM Cash will be valid for 1 (one) year from the date of refund/credit in the User's TM Wallet.

2.15 This Offer cannot be clubbed with any other offer running on Trainman.

2.16 The total amount shown on Trainman may differ from what is shown in the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS).

2.17 Trainman shall only act as a facilitator for providing Flight/Cab booking to the User and shall not be responsible for any delay, improper services provided by the Flight operator/Cab operator, for any injury, death, loss, or damage caused by the act or default of the management or employees of the Flight operator/Cab operator.

2.18 Trainman does not accept responsibility for losses and additional expenses, due to delays or changes in air, train, or other services, missed connections, sicknesses, weather, strikes, quarantine, or other causes, however, caused, and all such losses and expenses caused must be borne by the customer.

2.19 Trainman reserves the right, at any time, without prior notice and liability and without assigning any reason whatsoever, to add/alter/modify/change/withdraw or vary all of these terms and conditions or to replace, wholly or in part, this Offer by another offer, whether similar to this Offer or not, or to extend or withdraw it altogether.

2.20 Trainman is the sole authority for the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions. Trainman's decision on all matters relating to this Offer shall be final.

2.21 Trainman shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising due to a force majeure event.

2.22 Trainman shall not be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the Offer.

2.23 Trainman can suspend or discontinue/terminate this Offer at any time for any reason at their discretion without any prior notice.

2.24 By participating in this Offer, the User gives Trainman permission to use the customer's name, image and any other details, to promote the Offer or Trainman brand name or services.

2.25 In the event of any misuse or abuse of the Offer by the User or travel agent, Trainman reserves the right to deny the offer or cancel the booking.

2.26 This Offer cannot be exchanged for cash and is non-renewable, non-transferable, non-negotiable and non-extendable.

2.27 By opting for this Offer, you expressly agree that neither Stark Enterprises Private Limited/Trainman nor any of its affiliates will be liable or responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever that you may suffer, directly or indirectly, in connection with this Offer, that arises from such customer's own act of omission or commission.

2.28 Any dispute or claim regarding the Campaign must be resolved with us directly, and Users/Customers can connect with us as per the Grievance Policy

2.29 The terms and conditions of the Offer shall be read in conjunction with that of the terms and conditions of the Trainman.

2.30 The terms and conditions of the Flight operator/Cab operator shall be read in conjunction with this Terms and Conditions.

2.31 All disputes arising out of or in connection to this Offer are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Gurugram only.

3. What is 3x refund?

3.1 3x refund is a variation of Trip Assurance, if your train ticket remains waitlisted, Trainman will provide you 3X refund.

3.2 Out of the 3X refund, 1X ticket fare, paid by User, will be refunded by IRCTC as usual and the remaining 2X ticket fare will be refunded by Trainman.

3.3 1X refund that will be refunded by IRCTC will be subject to IRCTC cancellation charges i.e. Rs 60 + GST (if applicable).

For e.g.: User paid Rs 1790.4 as total ticket fare, fare breakup would be:

  • Ticket fare: 1715
  • IRCTC charge: 35.4
  • Agent commission: 40
  • PG charge: 0

Now, if ticket remains waitlisted after chart preparation 3X refund will be:

3X refund = (1715 - 60 IRCTC cancellation charges) + 2 * (1715) = 5085.

4. How will you get 3x refund?

4.1 After chart preparation, the user will be asked to enter its UPI or any other necessary details (Banking Details) to process 2X refund.

4.2 1X refund will be processed in original source of payment of the User from IRCTC.

4.3 User will have 48 hours to enter its Banking Detail through the portal that will be available on My bookings/PNR page on the Trainman after chart preparation.

4.4 Banking Details once submitted shall be final and any request to amend/modify shall not be entertained. In case of any issue, the User may reach out to our customer support on + 91 7428518704 or write to us at “ booking@trainman.in ” within 24 hours of submitting Banking Details.

4.5 Refund process may take 7-10 business days from the date of submission of Banking Details by the User.

5. Terms and conditions for 3x refund?

5.1 3X refund shall be calculated exclusive of:

5.1.1 Agent commission;

5.1.2 Payment gateway charges;

5.1.3 IRCTC convenience fee;

5.1.4 TM Cash; and

5.1.5 Trip Assurance Fee

Only train ticket fare will be used for 3X calculation.

5.2 Maximum amount of 2X refund shall not exceed Rs 6,000/-. 1X refund will be dependent upon ticket fare paid by User.

5.3 1X and 2X refund will be processed separately as 1X will be refunded from IRCTC and 2X will be refunded from Trainman.

5.4 In case, Banking Details entered by users are not correct, Trainman shall not be liable for the repayment on the same PNR. User shall bear the complete responsibility of his/her banking details.

5.5 Children between the age 0 to 5 years will not be eligible for 3X refund.

6. How will you get a confirmed flight ticket/cab booking?

6.1 Our customer support team will call the User shortly after chart preparation if your waitlisted train ticket is not confirmed.

6.2 Alternatively, you can reach out to us on '+91-7428518704' or write to us at booking@trainmna.in to get a confirmed flight ticket/cab booking.

6.3 You would be needed to share all the necessary details via WhatsApp/email which are required to book your confirmed flight ticket/cab.

6.4 Trainman will not be liable to execute the offer if the User's contact details are incorrect.

7. Terms and Conditions for 'Flight/Cab Booking'?

7.1 Trainman reserves the right to choose between a Flight or Cab upgrade.

7.2 A User availing the flight ticket/cab booking shall confirm their decision of flight/cab details with the Trainman via email/WhatsApp within 12 hours from the time of the chart preparation.

7.3 Flight upgrade/ cab booking cost per passenger cannot exceed more than Rs 12,000/-.

7.4 The flight ticket/cab booking details will be shared with you via email or on your registered number post your confirmation.

7.5 The flight ticket/cab booking details can also be downloaded from the Trainman.

7.6 If a user is unreachable within 12 hours from the time of the chart preparation, the offer of flight/cab upgrade stands cancelled.

7.7 Trainman reserves the right to book a flight/cab as deemed suitable within next fourteen (14) days of the User's train journey date.

7.8 User's requests to book a flight/cab as per their convenience will be determined by Trainman subject to availability and confirmation from the Flight/Cab provider.

7.9 Only Economy class flight tickets and cab options as per Trainman will be booked.

7.10 The departure and arrival cities cannot be changed.

7.11 In case of boarding station change while booking the train ticket, Trainman reserves the right to give flight ticket/cab booking based on the availability of flights from origin to destination.

7.12 If the boarding point is changed after PNR is generated, the User will not be eligible for the flight ticket/cab booking.

7.13 No request to add passengers or modify passenger details will be entertained.

7.14 In no case, requests for separate flight tickets/cab bookings for multiple passengers will be entertained.

7.15 Flight ticket/cab booking fare is inclusive of the total train ticket payable amount plus the TA Fee. No extra charges will be applicable to Users.

7.16 In no event, the 'TA fee paid for flight ticket/cab booking upgrade' can be refunded, exchanged or partly encashed.

7.17 No request pertaining to flight/cab change will be entertained post confirmed booking.

7.18 Trainman prefers booking direct flights/cabs but under unforeseen circumstances will provide connecting flights/multiple cabs if direct route options are unavailable.

7.19 The terms and conditions of the Flight operator/Cab operator shall be read in conjunction with these Terms and Conditions.

8. Terms and Conditions if cab booking is availed

8.1 Cab drivers would wait a maximum 45 minutes from your scheduled pickup time at your pickup location. Post this, your trip may get cancelled without any refund.

8.2 Pickup and Drop location cannot be changed once confirmed during cab booking.

8.3 Alternatively, if the driver agrees, the waiting charges would be Rs 100/hour.

8.4 The driver's details will be shared with you at-least 30 minutes prior to pick up.

8.5 In the event of the driver not reaching the pickup point on the scheduled time or at a different location than the one shared with you, please contact us at “7428518704” or write to us at “ booking@trainman.in ” for assistance before boarding the cab.

8.6 The journey time may increase due to unavoidable circumstances. Trainman doesn't guarantee the journey time to reach the destination.

8.7 The stops in the journey will not be determined by Trainman.

8.8 Luggage space will be limited based on the car provided. Extra luggage will have to be adjusted with the driver's consent.

8.9 Trainman isn't responsible for any luggage damage or loss.

8.10 We do not commit to providing the preferred cab model.

8.11 No request for change of destination or pickup point would be entertained.

8.12 You need to collect receipts directly from the driver for any extra charges paid directly to the driver during the trip. Trainman isn't liable to provide invoices for such amounts.

8.13 Trainman shall not be liable to pay any extra charges if the actual distance exceeds the quoted distance between origin and destination.

9. What happens if I cancel my train ticket before chart preparation?

9.1 In case you cancel a waitlisted train ticket before the chart preparation, Trainman will process a refund of the ticket fare as per the Indian Railway norms and you shall not be eligible for the Trip Assurance Offer. Furthermore, Trainman shall have the right to deduct the TA fee along with any other applicable charges/fee.

9.2 If your ticket gets confirmed and you cancel a confirmed train ticket before the chart preparation, then the cancellation policy of IRCTC will be applicable.

9.3 In case you wish to cancel your confirmed flight ticket/cab booking, Trainman shall not provide a refund under any circumstances.
