Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off 10 new Vande Bharat trains from Ahmedabad on March 12. This inauguration increased the Vande Bharat train count to 51, spanning 45 routes.
The routes of Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi to Katra, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi to Varanasi, Mysuru-Chennai, and Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad will now each have two Vande Bharat trains.
Jharkhand is set to welcome its third Vande Bharat train. The first, operating between Ranchi and Patna, started on June 27, 2023. The second, connecting Ranchi and Howrah, commenced on September 24, 2023. The upcoming train will serve the Ranchi-Varanasi route, starting on March 18.
Delhi stands out with 10 Vande Bharat trains, now offering connections to Amb Andaura, Amritsar, Ayodhya, Bhopal, Dehradun, and Khajuraho. Mumbai follows closely with six trains, and Chennai is home to five. Mysuru is also set to greet its second Vande Bharat train.
Moreover, along with new launches some existing routes are also expanded. The Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod route will extend to Mangaluru, the Ahmedabad-Jamnagar route will continue to Dwarka, the Gorakhpur-Lucknow route will reach Prayagraj (previously known as Allahabad), and the Ajmer-Delhi route will now include Chandigarh.
